I just signed up for Google’s affiliate advertising program. On one day, one of my posts got posted on Reddit.  I had just shy of 2000 page views, which to me seemed like a lot. But 2000 page views (without any clicks) = $0.03.

Frank Gehry's Disney Theater

Gehry’s Disney Theater, photo by Arash Hazeghi.

Logo, 06-2008

Anticlines and SynclinesDoes the logo look too Frank Gehry?  Maybe not.  He’s all about Synclines (at least on the Disney Theater), and it’s firmly rooted in Anticlines.

It’s amazing that Gehry is 79, and really hitting his stride career-wise. If he was a pop star, his breakout work would have been the Guggenheim Bilbao… Does the Wiseman Art Museum count? It seems like it’s just prior his peak, but it has some anticlines.

Architects have such gloriously long careers. Much preferable to the disposability of pop stars, models, athletes (those are obvious) but also graphic designers, or maybe just me.

I think I’ll write this blog in the Majestic Plural, even though there is only me thus far… For some reason it reminds me of Edith Wharton, (pictured) and Judith Martin, though I’m not entirely sure that’s accurate on either count. But it sounds so formal, and also lends a false anonymity.

Welcome.  I have had this blog software all installed and ready to go for a few weeks, and the ominous blank slate quality it’s had has been gnawing at me.  How to begin?  With a heady mission statement?  a calculated editorial direction?  something profound?

Guess not.  Just a single step.
